Since it was created in 2009, Van Cleef & Arpels’ Collection Extraordinaire has given prominence to the noblest ingredients in perfumery. Among these real gems are precious woods; rooted in nature, which never ceases to inspire the Maison, they have always had a special place within the collection.
Following on from Bois d’Iris and Bois Doré, Van Cleef & Arpels is launching a new fragrance that gives pride of place to an exceptional wood; constructed around Cedar, Bois d’Amande evokes the mysterious and gourmand scent of a fantastical almond tree.
In the shade of the almond trees
Bois d’Amande is a motionless journey, an imaginary meander.
“When creating this new fragrance, I pictured almond trees in the Italian sunshine”, explains perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur. “I wanted to create a wonderful contrast between the verticality of the woody notes and the irresistible tenderness of an almond accord, together with a vanilla base.”
The woody notes that structure the fragrance come from the unique Virginian Cedar tree, which grows on the eastern side of North America, from the banks of the Saint Lawrence River to Florida.
At the heart of Bois d’Amande, warm notes of Cedar are enveloped by a powdery almond accord, the sweetness of which is enhanced by vanilla musk in the base. A velvety and enveloping cloud, which haloes the skin with the delicacy of a silky veil…
