STEP 1 – Be Consistent with Cleansing

Cleansing should be a crucial, non-negotiable step in any skin care routine. This year, make a vow to keep your cleansing routine consistent—you should cleanse every morning before applying your makeup for the day and also every evening before heading to bed. In the morning, reach for a facial cleanser formulated for your skin type so that you can start things off on the right foot. You don’t want to apply moisturizer or makeup on top of dirty skin.

STEP 2 – Use a Face Serum Regularly

If you really want to have radiant, healthy-looking skin (who doesn’t?), a face serum is a no-brainer. These powerful, targeted treatments can go a long way in hydrating and toning your complexion. That’s why, in our opinion, using a face serum every single morning and evening, should be one of your skin care resolutions for 2022. 

STEP 3 – Take Your Make Up off Every Night

One of the biggest beauty faux pas you can make to sleep in your makeup. That’s because, when you sleep, your makeup can mix with the dirt and oils that have built up on the surface of your skin—and this can lead to clogged pores. Blocked pores, in turn, can result in breakouts and blackheads.

To make things easy on yourself, keep a bottle of no-rinse micellar water  on your nightstand. That way, even on long nights when the last thing you want to do is get up and wash your face, at the very least, you can take off your makeup before hitting the hay. All you have to do is saturate a cotton pad with the micellar water and wipe the pad across your face.

STEP 4 – Make Applying Moisturiser a Priority

Keeping your skin hydrated is critical in ensuring it looks its best. The key to maintaining hydration is applying moisturizer morning and night—regardless of your skin type. 

STEP 5 – Be Serious about Sun Protection

No matter the time of year—or the weather—you should always take the time to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher as directed. But don’t stop there. Additionally, other sun protection measures you should take daily include limiting your amount of time in the sun (especially during the sun’s peak hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.), seeking shade, and covering up exposed areas in long sleeves, pants, a broad-brimmed hat, and UV-blocking sunglasses.

STEP 6 – Start an Anti-aging Skin Care Routine

It’s never too early—or too late—to begin following an anti-aging skin care routine. With the right skin care products, you can help minimize signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, with continued use over time. Another anti-aging step you should take ASAP: using an eye cream. Your eye area is the most delicate area of your face, so it needs extra special care.

STEP 7 – Use a Face Scrub a few times a Week

Dead skin cells can build up on the surface of your skin, leaving your complexion looking dull. That’s why exfoliation is essential. You can use a face scrub to help slough away this buildup for smoother-looking and softer-feeling skin. 

Apply your face scrub of choice to dry skin, then add water and gently massage the face scrub over your skin before rinsing off thoroughly. Use three times a week. Bonus: You can use any of these three face scrubs on your lips, too!

STEP 8 – Try a Charcoal Mask for Bright Looking Skin

A radiant-looking complexion is basically the ultimate skin care goal. Meet that goal by adding a charcoal mask to your skin care routine three times a week. These face masks are formulated to draw out the buildup of dirt, oils, and impurities from the surface of your skin while also immediately reducing the appearance of dull skin. Just apply an even layer to clean, dry skin, leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse off thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Step 9 – Don’t Neglect your Neck and Chest

You want your complexion to look radiant and healthy, but that aspiration shouldn’t stop with your face. Make one of your skin care resolutions for 2022 be taking better care of your neck and chest area.
